In 1942 José Tapiola abandons the career of architecture to devote himself to painting. His first individual exhibition took place at the Syra Gallery in Barcelona in 1943. From then on he exhibited in group exhibitions held in Spain and abroad; several Spanish-American Biennials, National Exhibitions in Madrid and the Autumn and Spring Salons in Barcelona. His work is currently on display at the MACBA.
