Alfonso Costa spends his childhood and adolescence in his native town, and at the age of seventeen he moves to Barcelona. In 1967 he had his first exhibition. He was selected for the collective drawing exhibition Joan Miró, and in 1972 he was awarded a scholarship from the March Foundation to visit Florence. During these years the painter will make several posters, and will take part in international group exhibitions. He will also make several series of engravings that will increase his prestige, and will take part in exhibitions in Havana and Lisbon. His exhibitions are held all over Spain, and in 1983 he is awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture and receives the medal of the town of Noya. Currently, his work can be found in the Museums of Contemporary Art in Barcelona and Madrid, several Provincial Museums such as those of Lugo, Palma de Mallorca and Burgos, the March Foundation in Madrid and the Museum of Fine Arts in Ostend (Belgium), among others, as well as in various official Spanish institutions.
