Andrés Nogueira was a painter, engraver and metal embosser who began his training at the San Alejandro Academy of Painting. He completed his artistic studies in Europe. His first works were exhibited in the Annual Salons of the Círculo de Bellas Artes and in the Association of Painters and Sculptors. In 1926, the artist settled in Paris. After a brief return to Cuba, where he was assistant professor of the Engraving chair in San Alejandro (occupied by Mariano Miguel), he traveled again to Europe. He settled in Madrid, Spain, where he worked in the graphic press and continued to exhibit. Unfortunately, the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) cut short his career in Europe, resulting in the total loss of his works. Finally, the Cuban government repatriated him, allowing him to continue his artistic career in his native country.
