Disciple of Ivo Pascual, Josep Pujol participated in the Exhibition of Catalan Art in Madrid, and in 1926 he exhibited in the gallery Dalmau of Barcelona. He also showed his work at the prestigious Sala Parés in the same city in 1928, 1930 and 1934. After the civil war, however, he was marginalized for political reasons, although in 1966 he won the La Punyalada and Sant Jordi awards from the Diputació de Barcelona. He developed a language faithful to the Olot school, centered on landscape and marked by constructivism and schematism. He also painted interiors and still lifes. In 1983 he was awarded the Cross of Sant Jordi.
