DESCRIPTION
MICHEL DE GALLARD (France, 1922-2007)
"Landscape with houses".
Oil on panel.
Signed in the lower right part.
Measurements: 60 x 80 cm; 83 x 105 cm (frame).
In this landscape, Michel de Gallard reduces the architecture to its minimum poetic expression: geometrized houses, with soft violet walls and white gabled roofs, rise like silent figures. They are separated from the viewer by a delicate curtain of bare trees, with thin, leafless trunks. The palette is restrained, the composition austere, but each element breathes lyricism.
Michel de Gallard was a French painter. He is considered a member of the School of Paris and La Ruche, and is associated with French artists Bernard Buffet and Bernard Lorjou, with whom he founded the anti-abstract art group "L'homme Témoin". Awards: 1949 Member of the Salon d'Automne. 1950 Founding member of the Salon de la Jeune Peinture.
