The painting "Parisian Light I" captures the essence of light in a way that is both realistic and poetic. The subtle tones and transparent layers suggest the play of atmosphere and illumination across the cityscape, evoking the rhythm and breath of Paris. The composition balances recognizable architectural elements and abstract patterns of forms, inviting reflection and contemplation. Huisman's mastery of structure and light turns this work into a meditative experience, encouraging the viewer to project their own memories or associations with the city of Paris.
Wessel Huisman combines his background in history and art in an extraordinary way. After graduating from Radboud University with a degree in Economic and Social History, he graduated from the Arnhem Art Academy in 1984, the same year he became director of the academy, a position he held until 2006. Since then, he has devoted himself entirely to painting. His work is based on the long Dutch tradition of light and space, reminiscent of masters such as Rembrandt, Vermeer and Van Gogh, but with a modern and personal approach. Huisman is internationally recognized for his precision, clarity and mastery of light. He has exhibited worldwide, including Florence, Shanghai and Hong Kong, and was a finalist for awards such as Artist of the Year and the "Lorenzo Il Magnifico" prize at the Florence Biennale.
