Born circumstantially in Las Palmas, he spent his childhood in Olot, where his father had a religious imagery workshop where Griera first learned. He also studied at the School of Fine Arts in Olot for a short period of time. At the age of twelve he won his first prize at the Centre Catòlic, and at eighteen he was part of the Cràter d'Art group. The main influences of his youth were the painters Anglada Camarasa, whom he met while doing military service in Mallorca, and Vermeer de Delft. He made his debut in 1954, and since then he has shown his work both in Spain and abroad, in prominent galleries such as the Comas in Barcelona, the Kreisler in Madrid or the Atelier Holstein in Hamburg, as well as in the Fons d'Art in Olot.
