Juan Soler began his training with Alvarez de Sotomayor, of whom he was an advanced disciple. Later he extended his studies in the School of Arts and Trades of Madrid and in the Circle of Fine Arts of the same city. He specialized in the costumbrista theme, especially in port scenes of the note of Spain, starring fishermen, shellfish, etc.. Throughout his career he took part in group exhibitions all over the world, and also held individual exhibitions in Spain, Venezuela, Mexico, Portugal and the United States. He also participated in artistic contests and competitions, being awarded in 1978 with the Gold Medal in the contest "Pinturas Castellanas en Miniatura", held in Valladolid. He is currently represented in public and private collections, including those of Richard Nixon, Dean Martin and Giscard d'Estaign, as well as the Saudi Embassy in Madrid and the Maria da Fontinha Museum.
