DESCRIPTION
MIGUEL PRADILLA GONZÁLEZ (Rome, 1884 - Madrid, 1965).
"Sierra de Cameros".
Oil on canvas.
Signed and located in the lower margin.
Presents flaws and flaws in the frame.
Measurements: 35 x 43 cm; 48 x 54 x 7 cm (frame).
Lively rural scene, treated with the loose, vibrant and doughy brushstroke characteristic of Miguel Pradilla. The artist approaches the motif outdoors, seeking above all the atmosphere, the light and the local color, features that relate his language to an impressionism of costumbrista roots, heir but fresher and more spontaneous than that of his father. The warm chromatism and the direct capture of daily life reinforce the naturalistic and experiential character of the composition.
Miguel Pradilla was the son of the painter Francisco Pradilla. He cultivated a painting of Spanish and costumbrista themes, marked by the direct observation of nature and a technique of immediate execution that accentuates light, color and atmosphere. His work is preserved in the National Museum of Rio de Janeiro and in various private collections.
