Carlos Merodio began his artistic training at the School of Arts and Crafts of Palma Street in Madrid, currently the School of Art and Design, where he prepared his entrance to the School of Fine Arts. He completed his training at the San Fernando School of Fine Arts in Madrid.
His first individual exhibition took place in 1966 at the Rodriguez Acosta Foundation in Granada. From 1972 he exhibited in Madrid at the Macarrón Gallery, with which he maintained a continuous relationship until its closure, becoming one of its regular exhibitors since that year and throughout the 1970s and 1980s. Subsequently, he held individual exhibitions at the Orfila Gallery, where he presented the third of these shows within an already well-established career.
In his early stages, Merodio ascribed to an abstraction of constructivist roots, characterized by compositional rigor and the primacy of structure. In the late eighties and early nineties, driven by an interest in mastering the resources of realism, he constantly returned to the human figure, landscape and interiors. Since the nineties, his work has been defined by a fully assumed figuration, although radically distanced from any naturalistic approach.
