The landscape opens here as an orderly and luminous construction, where José Ventosa articulates the territory through a succession of planes that lead the gaze towards the horizon. The presence of the farmhouse, integrated into the environment, acts as a compositional core within a scene dominated by serenity and balance.
José Ventosa Doménech studied at the School of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi in Barcelona and completed his studies in Brussels. In 1918 he joined the Nou Ambient group, with which he exhibited until 1932. He made his individual debut in 1924 at the Sala Dalmau, where he showed his work continuously for decades. In 1940 he settled in Mallorca, where he consolidated his landscape painting career. He exhibited in cities such as Paris, London and Rome, and his work is part of collections such as MACBA. In 1982 he was named adopted son of Andratx.
