By the end of the 1980s, Redondela was already fully consolidated as a painter and gallery owner in Madrid. He continued to develop his work within a very personal figurative language, focused on intimate scenes, interiors, portraits and landscapes with a melancholic tone. At the same time, he remained linked to the historic Galería Redondela, founded by his family, which was a key space for the diffusion of contemporary Spanish art for decades.During this period, his painting was characterized by an increasing formal purification: sober compositions, silent atmospheres and a restrained use of color, distancing himself from any more experimental or rupturist tendency that dominated other currents of the moment.A painter of mainly self-taught training, Agustín Redondela will use the same pseudonym as his father, José González "Redondela". In 1945 he will be presented for the first time at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts, and that same year he will make his individual debut at the Estilo gallery in Madrid. Two years later he will participate in the Salón de los Once. Since then he has been awarded important national and international prizes, among them the National Painting Prize. He is represented in the Museum of Fine Arts of La Coruña, the Museum of Contemporary Spanish Landscape of Priego de Córdoba, the Museum of Fine Arts of Bilbao, the Camón Aznar Museum of Zaragoza, the museums of Buenos Aires, Caracas and Havana and the House-Museum of Oswaldo Guayasamín in Quito, among other public and private collections.
