The canvas we now present closely follows the pictorial trail of Joaquim Mir, one of the most original and innovative painters of Catalan modernism and a fundamental figure of Spanish painting in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. His work focuses mainly on landscape, although not understood in a strictly naturalistic way. Mir transformed nature into compositions of great expressive and chromatic force, where light and color acquire an absolute protagonism. His paintings of Mallorca, Tarragona or Vilanova i la Geltrú stand out for their vibrant use of color, almost abstract forms and a very subjective vision of the natural environment.
