A self-taught painter, Lino Martinez arrived in Santiago de Compostela by the hand of Dr. Blanco Rivero in 1914, and there he began working as a nurse and operating room draughtsman at the Royal Hospital. During these years he frequented the artistic environments of Compostela, especially the workshop of Tito Vázquez, and finally decided to participate in the National Art Exhibition in the company of Bonome and Asorey. In 1926 he obtained a scholarship from the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, and that same year the curator of the Holy Year Exhibition selected one of his works. Currently his paintings are widely distributed in the municipalities of Santiago, Marín and Vilagarcía, in the Provincial Museums of Pontevedra, Pobo Galego, das Peregrinacións and Quiñones de León, the Galician Parliament, the Caixanova, La Caixa, María José Jove and Pedro Barrié de la Maza Foundations, the Unión Protectora de Artesanos and several private collections.
