A Canadian painter born in Catalonia, Joan Pujol arrived in Canada with his family the year after his birth. He trained as a painter between Quebec and Ontario, and has developed a work centered on still life, marked by the simplest elements of everyday life, such as plastic bags, newspapers or cardboard, through which Pujol, with great technical skill, goes beyond formal representation to reveal the emotional and lyrical properties hidden behind the simple everyday. Following a completely figurative style, since the late sixties he has held exhibitions of his work in Canada, Spain, France, Belgium and the United States, and is currently represented at the Fundació Vila Casas, the MACBA in Barcelona, the MNCA Reina Sofía, the Fine Arts Museums of Budapest and Granada, the Diputación de Barcelona and the Museum of History of Sabadell, as well as in various private and public collections in Spain and North America.
