In this work the author uses an abstract language, based on irregular geometry, organic in both its layout and colors. It is an open style, whose basic characteristic is the conception of the pictorial surface as a whole, as an open field, without limits and without hierarchy.
With a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada, Fernando García Méndez has developed an artistic career characterized by constant experimentation and dialogue between disciplines, contexts and territories. His work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions, including those held at GAP - Glurns Art Point (Glorenza, Bolzano), La Empírica in Granada, the Exhibition Hall of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Granada, the Instituto de América - Centro Damián Bayón (Santa Fe) and the Palacio de los Condes de Gabia, also in Granada.
In the field of collective exhibitions, his work has had an outstanding international projection, with presence in spaces such as the Nowy Teatr in Warsaw, the BWA Gallery in Zielona Góra, the MOCAK (Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow) and the Paradox Fine Art Forum in Poznan, the city where he made his Erasmus stay. In Spain, he has participated in group exhibitions in institutions such as the José Guerrero Center (Granada), the MUSEION Atelarius of Bolzano, the Loyola University of Seville, the CAC Malaga, the MUPAM (Museum of Municipal Heritage of Malaga), the CAAC (Andalusian Center of Contemporary Art, Seville) and again the Palace of the Counts of Gabia.
His commitment to artistic research and contemporary creation has been recognized with grants such as the AlRaso (2012) and Glurns Art Point (2013). In addition, he has developed artistic residencies, among which stands out the one carried out at the Paradox Fine Art European Forum (Poznan, 2015). In 2021 he was selected to be part of the program "A secas. Artistas andaluces de ahora", an initiative of the CAAC aimed at giving visibility to emerging practices in contemporary Andalusian art.
