"Maris" is a direct evocation of the sea as a force in motion. Garriga builds the wave through a dense and enveloping brushstroke, where deep blues and watery greens merge with the white foam in a play of light and energy. The work conveys a physical sensation of the waves, more emotional than descriptive, and reflects his interest in pictorial matter as a vehicle of intensity and atmosphere.

Lluís Garriga Felip was trained in academies in Barcelona from a very young age, winning prizes in drawing and painting. He has exhibited since the 1970s in cultural spaces in Catalonia and Barcelona, with outstanding shows at Galeria Marquez (Barcelona, 2016), and participated in the international fair Art Vancouver (Canada, 2017). His work, influenced by Abstract Expressionism and artists such as Pollock, Tàpies or De Kooning, focuses on the strength of matter and gesturality as the main language.
