In Blocks, Ana María Benítez González reduces the urban landscape to a geometric construction of great compositional clarity. The facades and roofs are transformed into compact planes of color, ordered as a network of overlapping houses where the city appears synthesized in rhythm, volume and balance.

The palette combines luminous whites, deep blues, reds, greens and ochers, creating a resounding contrast between light and shadow. The artist dispenses with anecdotal detail to concentrate on the essential architecture of the image: roofs, walls and party walls converted into almost abstract forms, but still charged with urban memory.

The result is a serene and structured work of contemporary language, where figuration approaches abstraction without losing its link with the inhabited landscape. A painting of great visual appeal, marked by the solidity of color and purity of form.
