This work is part of the Making Off series (2022), in which Manuel Terán revisits and reinterprets iconic images from the history of cinema. The composition depicts one of the most recognizable and unsettling scenes from the film Eyes Wide Shut, directed by Stanley Kubrick. The image recreates the famous masked ritual that constitutes one of the film’s central moments, evoking its atmosphere of mystery, power, and transgression. The scene shows the central ceremonial figure clad in a red robe, surrounded by numerous participants dressed in black robes and masks—elements that have become visual symbols of the film. Through his unique visual language, Terán transforms a cinematic sequence into a reflection on representation, fiction, and the construction of collective imaginaries, establishing a dialogue between the history of contemporary art and audiovisual culture.
A Chilean artist based in Spain, Terán holds a degree in Fine Arts and has built a solid career in the field of visual arts and new technologies applied to art. Since his public debut in 1995 at the Autumn Salon of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Santiago, Chile, he has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in group exhibitions and art fairs in various countries across Latin America and Europe.
