Work belonging to the “Después de Miró” series, in which Lemagne’83 revisits, from a contemporary perspective, the universe of signs, colors, and free forms associated with the avant-garde movements of the 20th century. In “Déjavu,” the artist constructs a composition of great visual intensity, articulated through schematic figures, celestial bodies, geometric shapes, graphic elements, and small characters that seem to inhabit a landscape somewhere between the dreamlike and the symbolic.
The work establishes a clear dialogue with the imagery of Joan Miró, particularly in its use of flat colors, black lines, floating signs, and an iconography reminiscent of play, dreams, and pictography. However, Lemagne’83 does not present a literal reference, but rather a personal reinterpretation, close to abstract surrealism, where the elements are organized as a visual alphabet of their own.
Lemagne’83 earned a degree in Sociocultural Studies from the University of Camagüey, Cuba, in 2012, and took photography courses at ICRT TV Camagüey in 2013. His work moves between painting, abstraction, surrealism, and visual experimentation. Among his recent exhibitions are “February Exhibition,” Thomson Gallery, Zug, Switzerland, 2025; “Expo de Mini cuadros,” Alicante Artists’ Association, 2024; BIARCO / Armenia Colombia Contemporary Art Biennial, Alicante, 2024; and “Plural,” Vearte Gallery, Alicante, 2024.
