This set of silver pieces, made in Spain during the second half of the 19th century, is an interesting example of the decorative and functional taste of the period. It is a heterogeneous group that includes candlesticks, candlesticks, inkwells and lamps, all of them elaborated with a remarkable level of detail and ornamentation. The sinuous forms, vegetal reliefs and shell motifs clearly refer to the influence of the rococo style, highly appreciated in the 19th century within the historicist phenomenon. This stylistic revival is manifested in the undulating bases, decorated shafts and naturalistic elements that bring dynamism and elegance to the pieces.
Particularly noteworthy are the two lamps with opaline glass shades, which combine the delicacy of the crystal with the richness of the embossed silver bases. Spanish silver in the 20th century underwent an evolution marked by a dialogue between tradition and modernity. At the beginning of the century, many workshops continued to produce pieces in historicist styles, such as neo-baroque or neo-rococo, inherited from the 19th century and highly appreciated by a conservative clientele.
