DESCRIPTION
Desk clock; France, restoration period, c. 1820.
Mercury gilt bronze with porcelain enamel dial.
It has no key, no pendulum and is missing.
Measurements: 45 x 19,5 x 10,5 cm.
Table clock made of gilded bronze. The piece sits on four legs of chamfered ball that gives way to a prismatic base of polished sides. On it emerges a pedestal on whose front can be seen a relief with the representation of Cupid and Psyche. This relief follows the models of the work painted in 1798 by François Gérard known as "Psyche receiving the first kiss of Cupid". This painting belongs to the collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris. The upper area houses the watch case adorned with two large acanthus leaves that run around the perimeter. The dial has bruguet type hands with Roman numerals in black.
