DESCRIPTION
Louis XV style clock. France, late nineteenth century.
Gilded bronze and marble.
With key, pendulum and bell.
Measurements: 44,5 x 21 x 13 cm.
Rococo-inspired table clock, made of gilded bronze and red marble marbled. The dial, enameled in white and decorated in its center with a hand-painted garland, presents Arabic numerals and is housed in a spherical case of the same marble as the base, creating a harmonious and balanced composition.
The ornamental structure in gilded bronze, which joins the box to the base, is developed in plant motifs of naturalistic inspiration, with acanthus leaves, flowers and buds that intertwine in an ascending and enveloping movement, characteristic of the Louis XV taste reinterpreted in the nineteenth century. This work is representative of the historicist re-reading of French Rococo.
