BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Vases following models of Sèvres; Late nineteenth century - early twentieth century.
Enameled, gilded and glazed porcelain. Gilt bronze mounts.
Signed "Maglin" (Claude Maglin Rochette).
Measurements: 100 x 30 cm (x2).
Pair of vases made in porcelain with gilded bronze mounts that have an identical design, except for the figurative motif in the center of each of the bodies. Both are supported on a base of gilded bronze topped by a chain that runs around the perimeter and gives base to the round foot of each of the vases. This narrows into a small shaft that gives way to the body of each of the vases in both cases with a blue finish on which is arranged a large border defined by a golden frame, inside which can be seen in both cases the presence of a young woman giving flowers to the angels flanking her. The scenes are very similar, although the protagonist differs. The rear area of each of the vases also presents figurative ornamentation, in this case adorned with the presence of a landscape. Finally, the neck and mouth of each of the vases have a sculptural conception, both made in bronze, the details such as the palmettes of classical inspiration, or the body of two intertwined snakes, serves to give greater expressiveness and quality to the porcelain.
