BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
After LOUIS SIMON BOIZOT (France, 1743-1809).
"Flora and Cupid", Samson. France, ca.1900
Biscuit.
With mark on the reverse.
In good condition.
Measurements: 26 x 18 x 13,5 cm.
Group in biscuit Samson representing the goddess of fertility and spring giving flowers to Eros. It follows models of Louis-Simon Boizot. The draped work in Greek style and the delicacy of the festoons stand out. Louis-Simon Boizot was a French sculptor who was in charge of the sculpture workshop of the Manufacture de Sèvres from 1774. He created mostly neoclassical allegorical models that contrasted with the prevailing rococo taste. However, he was inspired by what had been done before him at the Sèvres factory.
