The influential designer, decorator and director Henri Rapin, especially known for his work in the Art Deco style, collaborated extensively with the Manufacture Nationale de Sèvres (in fact, he became artistic director between 1920 and 1939). Under his direction, Rapin was instrumental in renewing the Manufacture's designs, adapting them to the new Art Deco trends. He introduced more modern forms, geometric patterns and a distinctive color palette. His works were exhibited at the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes in Paris, where Sèvres had a prominent presence.
