DESCRIPTION
Art Deco vase SABINO, ca. 1930.
Opalescent glass with blue patina.
Work published in the Sabino Catalogue Raisonné, Philippe DECELLE N° 7123Bis and Opalescence fig. 49.
Signed on the base.
Measurements: 17 x 17 x 17 cm.
The vase in tender is distinguished by having been made in opalescent glass, a material that has an iridescent quality that allows it to change color (often blue, pink or amber tones) depending on the angle of the light and the background. This effect is especially pronounced on the edges or thicker areas of the glass. Our specimen is also decorated with a typically Art Deco relief depicting nude female bodies holding baskets of fruit. Geometrized vegetal motifs act as a background.
Sabino vases correspond to the production of crystal or pressed glass, especially opalescent, of the French firm founded by Marius-Ernest Sabino (1878-1961). The Sabino Glass company was especially active from the 1920s until World War II.
