BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Dish; Manises; XVII century.
Ceramic luster. Pardalot series with striped leaves.
Measurements: 33 x 8 cm.
Round dish with concave bottom, sloping wall and rounded lip. It has a circular base with a flat base and an incised ring on the rim. On the obverse side it is decorated with white enamel almost beige, with a central motif of a typical bird or "Pardalot", well drawn in the style of the seventeenth century, painted with a brush in ochre with metallic reflection. In this plate the bird is the protagonist of the composition, since it is located in the central zone, around it and arranged in concentric bands, there are stems of striped leaves with fruits and groupings of dots. The central bird scene is surrounded by flowers, simple plant motifs and groups of dots. The border of the wing is made of tangent circles forming a chain.
Lustre ceramics will be the great art of the Nasrid period, although it was born in Spain during the Almohad period, between the second half of the 12th and the first half of the 13th century. In later times it will have special development in Manises, where the Hispano-Muslim tradition will continue in both the technical and decorative aspects.
