Vase in blown glass of the Schneider firm, with stylized body and enameled in two colors (blue and yellow) between which it transits in gradients.
Ernest (1877-1937) and Charles Schneider (1881-1953) founded in 1911 a small glassworks located in Epinay-sur-Seine, France. Charles Schneider, a graduate of the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and gifted with uncommon artistic skills, together with his brother, succeeded in making their production the most important art glassworks in France between 1926 and 1930. Known as Verreries Schneider, the firm made two lines of production. The first, under the brand name Le Verre Français, will generally be two-tone, sometimes overlapping, acid-etched and with a glossy stylized floral decoration on a matte background. It will be accompanied by the signature "Charder" (Charles Scheider) or a tricolor cachet of the French flag as a patriotic sign. The signature "SCHNEIDER" was also sometimes accompanied by an amphora, exclusively reserved for sale in a luxury boutique in Paris, Le Vase Etrusque. The second line, under the emblematic Schneider brand, is made up of pieces in shorter series, sometimes unique, proposing a smooth and shiny glassware. In any case, the triumph of this firm was undoubtedly due to the creative frenzy, enthusiasm, talent and genius of one man, Charles Schneider.
