Porcelain figure representing a young musician with a smiling appearance that reinforces the impression of bucolic reverie that gives both the attire and his gestures and point of field under his feet. Every detail of the costume is treated with great attention to detail, an example of the technical virtuosity characteristic of the Royal Dux manufacture.
Royal Dux was one of the most outstanding porcelain manufactures of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods in Bohemia. Founded by E. Eichler in 1853 in Dux (now Duchov), near Prague, it has remained in business to this day. Around the turn of the century, the firm specialized in the production of Art Nouveau figures and busts. These were large pieces, mainly female-themed, as well as vases decorated with round figures.
