Chandelier; Murano, twentieth century.
Folded and colored glass.
Measurements: 45 x 15 x 15 cm.

Murano's reputation as a glassmaking center was born when the Republic of Venice, fearing fires and the destruction of the city's wooden buildings, ordered glassmakers to move their foundries to Murano in 1291. Murano glass is still associated with Venetian glass.
