Table lamp; DAUM-NANCY, France, c. 1930.

Measurements: 40 x 35 cm.
Table lamp of the firm Daum-Nancy, recognized for its mastery in the work of artistic glass during the first decades of the twentieth century. Made around 1930, the piece evidences the transition from Art Nouveau to Art Deco, where the organic exuberance of naturalistic forms gives way to an aesthetic of greater formal and geometric purification.
The lamp is executed in translucent acid-etched glass, with a fine relief engraving that combines stylized floral motifs and curved geometric compositions, skillfully integrated into the surface. The resulting texture, subtly satin-finished, generates an effect of diffused and homogeneous light, typical of the refined technical treatment characteristic of the Daum workshops.
The truncated conical shade, of balanced proportions, is joined by discreet golden metal screws to an equally decorated cylindrical glass body, creating an ensemble of great volumetric harmony. The mastery of engraving on several layers of glass, together with the quality of the transparency and purity of the material, reveals the technical excellence of the Lorraine manufacture, whose procedures combined molding, grinding, and chemical engraving with exceptional artisanal precision.
The Daum manufacture, founded in 1878 by Jean Daum and consolidated under the direction of his sons Auguste and Antonin, was distinguished by its ability to integrate technical innovation and aesthetic rigor. Each piece was the result of a collaborative process between craftsmen and artists, where blowing, modeling, engraving and enameling were executed with the highest quality artisanal precision.
