DESCRIPTION
Delft vase, XVIII century.
Porcelain.
Presents previous restoration.
Measurements: 30 x 14 x 14 cm.
The body, globular flared, is combined with a flared mouth, separable and very open to the outside. It continues a decoration of porcelain enameled in cobalt blue, applied in different dissolutions in order to achieve the different tones of the traditional ink painting. It is decorated with the representation of plant motifs with an open and asymmetrical composition typically oriental.
Delft ceramics, typical of the manufactures of this city in the Netherlands, is characterized by the use of blue and white, generally painted by hand. Delft production was refined at the end of the 19th century, when white porcelain replaced the red clay used until then, and specialized in tiles, vases, cups and plates, mainly decorated with typically Dutch landscapes, especially seascapes and the traditional plains with mills and canals of the lowlands. In this case the vase is profusely ornamented following vegetal and floral patterns.
