The work "Triomphale" belongs to the collaboration of Salvador Dalí with the historical glassworks Daum Nancy, one of the most prestigious manufactures of Europe, direct heir of the tradition of the French Art Nouveau and reference in the experimentation with artistic glass paste during the 20th century.
It is a sculptural plate of deep blue glass, made of pressed glass paste, a technique that allows a dense, slightly satiny surface and great chromatic depth. On this vibrant background, Dalí intervenes with golden strokes applied by hand, spontaneous and gestural character.
In the center is a schematic figure in profile, resolved with continuous lines of gold, which refers to the Dalinian imaginary: a symbolic, almost archaic face, between the human and the mythical. Around it, the outer wing of the plate becomes a free field of signs, arabesques and automatic graphics, reinforcing the sensation of movement, exaltation and triumph suggested by the title of the work itself.
The contrast between the deep blue of the glass and the warm glow of the gold creates an effect of restrained luxury, where matter and gesture balance each other without imposing one over the other.
During the 1960s and 1970s, Dalí developed an intense activity in the field of decorative arts and limited edition objects, collaborating with manufactures of excellence such as Daum Nancy.
