Enameled porcelain.

Measurements: 14 x 4,5 x 5 cm.
Sculptural figure in enameled porcelain belonging to the famous manufacture of Meissen, representing Polichinela, one of the most emblematic characters of the Commedia dell'Arte. The piece takes up the theatrical and gallant repertoire that was so successful in the figurative production of the Saxon factory since the eighteenth century.
The character appears dressed in his characteristic wide-formed costume, lechuguilla collar and mask, features that underline his burlesque and satirical identity. The elegantly casual pose and the delicate modeling of the face reveal Meissen's own technical mastery in the transition to the 20th century, combining sculptural precision and chromatic refinement.
The quality of the enamel, the meticulousness of the details and the careful execution of the volumes are evidence of the high level of workmanship in this period. The Commedia dell'Arte theme was especially appreciated for its scenic vivacity and decorative appeal, becoming one of the most celebrated motifs by collectors of European porcelain.
Meissen porcelain, born in 1710, quickly established itself as a benchmark of luxury and quality in Europe. Its iconic mark of the two crossed swords, introduced in 1720, is one of the oldest and most prestigious in the world. Initially inspired by oriental porcelain, Meissen evolved from rococo to neoclassicism and, in the 19th century, recovered its essence with the second rococo, creating pieces and sculptures of great artistic value.
