Jug for wine ornamented with heraldic shield and lions on the flanks. This decoration is typical of the wine jugs made in El Puente del Arzobispo.
The pottery of Puente del Arzobispo is one of the most singular pottery traditions of the Iberian Peninsula, developed from the 16th century onwards in close relationship with the ceramic centers of Talavera. Its production is characterized by a balance between functionality and decoration, where the utilitarian becomes the support for its own visual language. Technically, the use of stanniferous glazes on which metallic oxides are applied to generate a sober but expressive palette: coppery greens, intense blues and ochers. Unlike other more refined productions, the ceramics of Puente del Arzobispo preserve a more popular and direct character, perceptible in the loose lines and in the repetition of motifs.
