The jug is a prime example of the Jugendstil style developed by Wilhelm Kralik Sohn in Eleonorenhain around 1900. The body, with a bulbous profile and an extraordinarily slender neck, is adorned with an organic pattern of intense blue, violet, turquoise, and green reflections, achieved through the iridescence of the glass. The metal base, featuring a long curved handle, a spout, and a hinged lid, accentuates the piece’s verticality.

Wilhelm Kralik Sohn was one of the leading manufacturers of Bohemian art glass at the turn of the 19th to the 20th century. His work was characterized by experimentation with iridescent surfaces, appliqués, and decorations with a strong chromatic effect, fully participating in the renewal of Central European decorative arts associated with Jugendstil.
