BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

MANOLO DE LA FUENTE (1950-2011)
"Prince Felipe", 1987.
Mixed media and collage on paper.
Signed and dated. Dedicated.
Measurements: 50 x 65 cm; 84 x 68 cm (frame).

This work, made in 1987, stands as an exceptional testimony of Manolo de la Fuente's ability to humanize solemnity. In an exercise of technical mastery and sensitivity, the painter from Vigo transcends the conventions of institutional portraiture to capture the then Prince Philip on the threshold of his maturity. Through his brush, the figure of the young heir becomes detached from the rigidity of protocol to reveal the vulnerability and determination of adolescence.

Born in Vigo in 1950, Manolo de la Fuente forged one of the most singular and authentic trajectories of contemporary Galician art. Despite his essentially self-taught training, his profound gaze and his style imbued with a lyrical realism allowed him to reinterpret the identity of his time.

His work is present in important collections such as that of Afundación (Abanca Collection) and in Galician public institutions.
