BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

ALFREDO TROISI (Foggia 1938).
"Evolution of the square".1989
Mixed media on paper.
Signed, titled and dated on the back.
Measurements: 68,5 x 68,5 cm; 72,5 x 73 cm (frame).

Alfredo Troisi carried out numerous variations of the "Evolution of the square" since the seventies, a period in which artists like El Lissitzky (with his Proun series) explored the intersection between painting and architecture, using geometric shapes to represent abstract and utopian concepts. The abstract work of this Italian artist belongs to this movement. He explores spatial and formal relationships by using simple geometric shapes, such as squares and lines, to convey complex ideas about form and space.
