Alberto Duce began his training at the School of Arts and Crafts of Zaragoza, and began his career as an advertising illustrator. In 1942 he moved to Madrid to further his training, and there he copied the great masters at the Prado and attended drawing classes at the Círculo de Bellas Artes. In Madrid he also developed an intense activity making sets for theater, portraits and murals. On his return to Zaragoza he took part in the first exhibition of the Grupo Pórtico, and later traveled to Paris, where he studied at the Grande Chaumière Academy. The following year, in 1949, he moved to the United States, and after attending the Art Students League of New York, he settled in Washington, where he worked for the Spanish Embassy until 1961. He then returned to Spain, where he taught at the Círculo de Bellas Artes until 1970. He has received important awards, including the Grand Prix de Rome, the Painting and Drawing Medals at the Salón de Otoño and the Drawing and Painting Prizes at the Salón de África. He is currently represented at the Castillo de Larrés Drawing Museum, the Camón Aznar Museum, the Río Ebro Cultural Center and the Zaragoza Museum, among others.
