The famous film director Bigas Luna developed in parallel to his cinematographic activity his passion for drawing and watercolor. One of his best known series on paper due "The faces of the soul", to which belong the essential and spectral faces that we show.

Born in the Barcelona neighborhood of Sarrià, and son of José María Bigas and Carmen Luna Wenberg, he discovered his interest in the plastic arts when he was a child, after receiving some paintbrushes as a gift from his father. After a strict education in a religious school and abandoning his studies in economics, he opted for art, learning drawing techniques and graphic representation, completing his studies with design and interior design. However, the creative and artistic tendency is evident and comes before the design, thus joining the conceptual currents that developed during the seventies in his Barcelona environment.
His passion for the arts made him an authentic multifaceted artist, combining the world of cinema with plastic art. The documentation filmed in super 8 of his first creations, and some essays in the incipient video-tape, always within the conceptual trend, lead him to be interested in integrating most of his creative aspects and linking his concerns and obsessions. With his feature film "Tatuaje" (1976), he begins his dark period, a key stage in which he gives relevance to his most personal facet, paying tribute to artists such as Goya, Buñuel or Hitchcock. It was at this time when he became known as a transgressive filmmaker.
In 1980 he moved to Los Angeles where he stayed for four years and shot "Reborn" (1981). In the 90's, he directed the famous Iberian trilogy: Jamón, jamón (1992), Huevos de oro (1993), and La teta y la luna (1994). After the production of these films, he decided to proclaim himself as an artist rather than a filmmaker, and began to exhibit and experiment with video art. It was with the new era of 2000, when he founded Platform B, dedicated to multimedia projects.
In 2005, Bigas' life would move to the countryside, where his new plastic creations would make use of nature itself to give rise to works of unique and truly experimental content. These works would be transferred to the Spanish Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo in 2010. After the end of the event, he resized his plastic work and intensified in a decisive way his final cycle of creative collaboration with nature.
In 2013 he died just before starting the shooting of Segundo Origen (filmed by Carles Porta), working almost until the last moment. Three years later, Bigas por Bigas, the poetic testament of the artist made from hundreds of hours of footage of his everyday environment, premiered at the San Sebastian festival.
