Influenced by his experience as a photographer and his deep connection with nature, Estévez decided to devote himself to painting. His work is rooted in the tradition of the landscape painters who came to Cuba in the 19th century, such as Henri Cleenewerck, Esteban Chartrand and Federico Mialhe.
A self-taught artist, Ernesto Estévez-García exhibited his work individually at the Pan American Art Projects, Miami, Florida (2008), as well as at La Acacia Gallery in Havana (2002). His works have been part of numerous exhibitions celebrating the landscape genre. These include the First National Landscape Salon VICTOR MANUEL, Havana, Cuba; El paisajenuncaes el mismo. Orígenes Gallery, Havana, Cuba; Nuevos horizontes, Museo Cultural de Artes Gráficas, Mexico City; and Pintura Latino Americana de Ahora Exhibition. Naples Museum of Art, Naples, Florida. He has been represented in several art fairs such as ARCO, Madrid, Spain; Arte Americas. Miami Beach, Florida; and Pinta, New York. He currently lives and works in Havana.
