BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Italian school, XVII century.
"Scene mythological allegory".
Ink on paper.
Presents generalized foxing due to the passage of time.
Measurements: 19 x 25 cm, 36 x 47 cm (frame).
Ink sketch representing an allegorical scene of mythological character, with stylized human figures in dynamic attitudes, typical of the mannerist style. There are muscular bodies, theatrical poses and a fluid composition, with strong gestural expressiveness. The loose and energetic line suggests that it is a preliminary study or design for a larger work, possibly a painting or mural.
It is clearly influenced by late Mannerism, with echoes of artists such as Parmigianino or Francesco Salviati. The work reflects the taste for compositional complexity and idealized anatomy, typical of the Italian post-Renaissance tradition.
The scene could be interpreted as a classical allegory, perhaps related to themes such as love, time or virtue. The sketchy nature of the figures and the technique employed indicate a creative process of great quality.
