Evarist Vallès started in the plastic arts when he was still a child, but he did not devote himself to painting until 1946, after studying Law in Barcelona. He lived for a time in Paris, and on his return he held his first exhibition at the Icaria Gallery in Figueras (1948). There he met Dalí, who had a powerful influence on his first painting, surrealist and descriptive. Over time he evolved towards a more intellectualized language, always with a predominance of line, until 1956, when he assumed a geometrizing cubism, where color became the protagonist. Again in Paris, he shows a clear influence of Picasso, until he definitively abandons figuration to approach an abstraction that frequently makes reference to nature within infinite spaces. Throughout his career, Vallès has held numerous solo and group exhibitions, and is currently represented in the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris and in the museums of Ibiza, Ceret and l'Empordà in Figueres.
