Oval portrait of a courtesan lady, executed with meticulous delicacy. The figure incarnates the artificial grace and the worldly splendor of the gallant society. The face, with its light ivory complexion, is illuminated by a lively gaze. Her hair, raised in a powdered wig of lavish amplitude, is crowned with a delicate floral arrangement of fabric, an ornamental artifice that refers to the universe of the eighteenth-century salons. Her silk dress, with a pleated and transperent border and a large bow on the chest, also reflects the aristocratic fashion of the rococo period.
