DESCRIPTION
Spanish school of the 19th century.
"Musketeer".
Watercolor on paper.
Without signature.
Measurements: 39 x 21 cm; 46 x 28 cm (frame).
The paintings of musketeers became popular during the 19th century, linked to a romantic ideal in which they were admired as the perfect example of a gentleman. In this case, the author resorts to a historical anachronism, presenting the figure in the center of the scene, dressed in elegant clothes, and his musket tied around his waist. The image takes place in an exterior, where through a loose brushstroke, the author introduces elements that demonstrate his technical quality and handling of watercolor.
