Manuel Ángeles Ortiz, a leading figure of the Spanish School of Paris, began his training in Granada and completed his studies in Madrid before settling in the vibrant atmosphere of Paris in the 1920s, where he had the direct support of Pablo Picasso and held his first individual exhibition at the Galerie Quatre Chemins (1926). His international career continued in Spain, Paris and later in Buenos Aires, where he developed an intense artistic activity before returning to the French capital in 1948.
An essential artist in the renewal of Spanish modernity, Ángeles Ortiz is present in exhibitions of reference including shows in Paris, Madrid, Buenos Aires and various institutional retrospectives and her work is part of collections of the highest prestige, such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, ARTIUM, Museo Patio Herreriano, CAAC Seville, Musée de Grenoble, as well as in the Federico García Lorca, Mapfre and Telefónica Foundations, in addition to recognized private collections in Europe and America.
