Paneque received his artistic training at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Seville, but did not finish his degree. Director and founder, together with Rafael Agredano and José Espaliú, of the magazine Figura in 1984. It is in the mid-eighties when his work becomes known within the Andalusian art scene, through the realization of small format paintings populated with references and symbols from the religious and everyday environment that the author mixes with a playful sense and erotic characters that show a clear rejection of the Andalusian artistic tradition. His work evolves towards a formal synthesis and an iconographic purification in the line of conceptual art. On the other hand, his subject matter focuses on social events that are treated with a language similar to the world of advertising. In his works there is always a non-conformist and provocative component that he develops in series of paintings, sculptures or installations, as in his series on Japan, games of chance, etc. He has starred in numerous solo exhibitions and participated in important group exhibitions, among which we can highlight: Aperto 86 at the Venice Biennale (1986), Spain 87. Dynamiques et Interrogations (1987) at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Naturalezas españolas. 1940-1987 (1987) at the Museo Centro de Arte Reina Sofía and Pintores de Sevilla. 1952-1992 (1992) at the Real Monasterio de San Clemente in Seville.
