DESCRIPTION
ALBERT RÀFOLS CASAMADA (Barcelona, 1923 - 2009).
"Window".
Wax on paper.
Signed in the lower right corner.
Measurements: 42 x 30 cm; 55,5 x 44,5 cm (frame).
Composition of intimate character in which Albert Ràfols Casamada develops one of the recurrent themes of his production: the interior space articulated through the window as an element of transition between interior and exterior. Using a language of great formal synthesis, the artist structures the composition with soft lines that delimit a schematic architectural frame, within which a landscape reduced to chromatic fields unfolds.
Ràfols Casamada enjoys great international prestige today. He has received a multitude of awards, such as the National Plastic Arts Award, the Creu de Sant Jordi and the CEOE Arts Award. He was also named Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters of France. His work can be found in the most important museums around the world: the Reina Sofía in Madrid, the Guggenheim and the MOMA in New York, the Museum of Modern Art in Los Angeles, the Picasso Museum in France, the Georges Pompidou in Paris and the British Museum and the Tate Gallery in London, among many others.
