DESCRIPTION
LUIS FEITO (Madrid, 1929-2021).
Untitled.
Watercolor on paper.
Signed.
Measurements: 25 x 40 cm; 38 x 55 cm (frame).
In this watercolor, Feito deploys an abstract language of great subtlety, where the transparency of the stains and the fluidity of the stroke build a lyrical and balanced composition, characteristic of his research on space and matter.
Luis Feito was a key figure in Spanish abstraction and a founding member of the El Paso group, a fundamental group for the artistic renovation of the post-war period. After his first solo exhibition in 1954 at the Buchholz gallery in Madrid, he began an international career that led him to exhibit in cities such as Paris, New York, Milan, Tokyo and Rome.
Throughout his career he received numerous awards, such as the Order of Arts and Letters of France (1985) and the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts (1998). His work is part of important international collections, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
